At Ovohorse and Ovoclone we are at the forefront of equine biotechnology. We apply the most innovative techniques to preserve and enhance the genetic qualities of high-performance horses. After great successes in cloning Show Jumping horses, we have decided to bring this technology closer to the world of Raid, one of the most demanding disciplines on the international equestrian scene
In the Raid, physical resistance, mental strength and good genetics are some of the factors that are taken into account to determine if it is a suitable horse for the discipline. For this reason, we offer ranchers, riders and those interested in the Raid a good solution to ensure that the horses they acquire will be future champions. This is the cloning of high performance horses.
The Raid tests the horse’s physical and mental limits. They are competitions that require traveling long distances on irregular terrain with various weather conditions. Factors such as cardiovascular endurance, metabolism and a competitive mindset are important. These qualities are not the result of chance, but the result of superior genetics that must be preserved and replicated
By cloning horses that have already proven their worth in this discipline, we guarantee the perpetuation of their attributes, thus allowing new specimens to inherit this genetics and be exact replicas.
How does the cloning process work?
Cloning is a high-precision procedure that we carry out with the utmost ethics and professionalism. The process consists of several stages that guarantee the full conservation of the genetics of the original horse:
- Obtaining genetic material: We extract a small sample of the horse to clone, selecting the most optimal and viable genetic material.
- Preparation of the recipient egg: We extract an egg from a donor mare and eliminate its original genetic material, leaving an “empty structure” that will be the basis of the process.
- Cell fusion: We insert the genetic material of the horse that will be cloned into the recipient egg using a cell transfer technique.
- Embryo culture: We develop the embryo in a controlled laboratory environment until it reaches the conditions necessary for viability.
- Implantation in a carrier mare: We transfer the embryo to a selected mare, who will carry out the gestation until the birth of the clone.
This procedure, in addition to being safe and effective, guarantees that the DNA of the original horse is completely preserved, resulting in a clone with the same physical and genetic characteristics as the initial horse.
Benefits of cloning
We combine cutting-edge technology, a team of experts in equine biotechnology and extensive experience in cloning high-performance horses. Our proposal offers a series of interesting benefits:
- Preservation of genetics: Cloning a horse that has already shown what it is capable of in competition allows its unique qualities to be preserved in future generations.
- This procedure, in addition to being : Replicating the best Raid horses allows their physical and mental attributes to perpetuate, thus strengthening the future of the discipline.
- Avoid the loss of great horses at a competitive level: Injuries, illnesses or reproductive difficulties will not be an obstacle to keeping the potential of an elite horse alive.
