Ovohorse & Ovoclone and the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation have reached an agreement that will mark a before and after for Spanish riders attending the Olympic Games. The brand of the OVO Group will preserve the cell line of the horses representing Spain in Paris 2024 free of charge.
Safeguarding the genetic line will help to continue advancing and innovating in the field of assisted reproduction, in which Ovohorse & Ovoclone have been leaders for over a decade. It will also give riders the possibility to clone their horses in case of any irreversible mishap, allowing them to have a copy of their stallion.
This gift, valued at 50,000 euros, reaffirms Ovohorse & Ovoclone’s commitment to national sports. This is not the first time both institutions have collaborated: in May of this year, they formalized an agreement to “strengthen the promotion and dissemination of various aspects related to equine reproduction.”
The list of Olympic riders highlights the presence of the veteran Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, who won a silver medal in Athens 2004 and at 65 years old is looking to repeat the feat in the French capital. The equestrian competition will begin on July 27, and will conclude on August 6, the day of the Individual Jumping final.
This is the Spanish Olympic team:
Dressage (team): Borja Carrascosa, Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, José Daniel Martín Dockx, and Claudio Castilla Ruiz.
Eventing (individual): Esteban Benítez Valle and Carlos Díaz Fernández.
Show Jumping (team): Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Sergio Álvarez Moya, Ismael García Roque, and Armando Trapote.
