What is dog cloning?

What is dog cloning?

Dog cloning is an advanced process that allows you to create a genetically identical twin of your dog. This procedure does not alter any genes from the donor dog, ensuring that the clone shares the temperament, intelligence, and appearance of the original.

Process of Dog Cloning at Ovoclone

At Ovoclone, the process of dog cloning is meticulous and efficient. Here are the steps involved:

Genetic Preservation (GP):
To start the dog cloning process, the first step is to preserve the genetic material. This involves collecting a tissue sample, usually from the donor dog’s ear or chest, by your veterinarian.

Cell Culture:
The collected cells are cultured and cryogenically stored. This genetic preservation service includes an annual storage cost ranging from 100 to 300 USD.

Genetic Transfer:
The genetic information from the donor dog is transferred into an egg that has had its original nucleus removed. This modified egg starts dividing and forms an embryo.

Embryo Development:
The embryo is implanted into the uterus of a surrogate mother, where it develops as a normal pregnancy.

What to do if your dog has passed away?

If your dog has passed away before a tissue sample can be collected, follow these steps to preserve their genetic material:

  • Refrigeration: Wrap your dog in a damp towel and refrigerate it between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius.
  • Temporary Preservation: If you cannot refrigerate the whole body, cut off one of your dog’s ears and wrap it in a sterilized cloth for refrigeration.
  • Use of Ice: If neither of the previous options is possible, place ice cubes on your dog’s body and replace them frequently.

After taking these steps, contact Ovoclone as soon as possible. We are committed to animal preservation and well-being.
