In the late 1990s, Thierry Pomel crossed paths with a young horse that changed not only his career as a rider but also his life. A few years after this first encounter, and after years of training and dedication, Thor des Chaines led him to compete in the Sydney Olympic Games and the final round of the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome, where he earned a silver medal.

Competing in the 1.60m category, this gelding was one of those horses that elevate the discipline and raise the level of competition.

Thor Des Chaines was a serious horse, very mentally balanced, confident when facing obstacles, and with great cadence in the ring.

His rider, Frenchman Thierry Pomel, was one of the most recognized on the international stage. Together with THOR DES CHAINES, they became a historic pair, selected to represent France in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

● In 1998, won the silver medal in Rome at the FEI World Equestrian Games.
● In 1999, placed fifth with the French team at the Continental Championships in Hickstead.
● In 2000, competed in the Sydney Olympic Games representing France.
