Ovohorse & Ovoclone and the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation have signed an agreement that will mark a turning point for Spanish riders participating in the Olympic Games. The OVO Group brand will preserve free of charge the cell line of the horses representing Spain at the 2024 Games in Paris.
Safeguarding the genetic line will help to continue advancing and innovating in the field of assisted reproduction, in which Ovohorse & Ovoclone have been pioneers for over a decade. It will also give riders the possibility to clone their horses in case of irreversible events, allowing them to have a genetic copy of their stallion.
This gift, valued at €50,000, reaffirms Ovohorse & Ovoclone’s commitment to national sport. This is not the first time both institutions have collaborated: last May, they formalized an agreement to “strengthen the promotion and dissemination of various aspects related to equine reproduction.”
Among the Olympic riders stands out veteran Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, silver medalist in Athens 2004, who at 65 years old is aiming to repeat the feat in the French capital. The equestrian competition will begin on July 27 and conclude on August 6, the day of the Individual Jumping final.
This is the Spanish Olympic team:
Dressage (Team): Borja Carrascosa, Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo, José Daniel Martín Dockx, and Claudio Castilla Ruiz.
Eventing (Individual): Esteban Benítez Valle and Carlos Díaz Fernández.
Show Jumping (Team): Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Sergio Álvarez Moya, Ismael García Roque, and Armando Trapote.
