TRUST THE SPECIALISTS

What is the “Genetic Bank” service?

The aim of the genetic bank is to preserve the cells containing the animal’s DNA in liquid nitrogen. These DNA-containing cells will later be used for the cloning process, at the client’s chosen time.

It is recommended that the biopsy and cell storage be carried out while the animal is still healthy, as the cells remain viable for only up to 6 hours post mortem.

Advantages of the Genetic Bank

The main advantage of the Genetic Bank is that it ensures the animal’s genetics are preserved for the near future. When the client decides the time is right for cloning, the material for production will already be stored.

LINE PRESERVATION
CELLULAR

Thanks to our experience in cryopreservation of biological material and genetics, we offer our cell line preservation bank for animals to safeguard their genetic information indefinitely using the technique of freezing and storage in liquid nitrogen.

To carry out cellular cryopreservation, we will need a small skin biopsy from the animal, measuring 2 to 4 mm, to culture and store it for an unlimited period in liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees. In this way, we can preserve its qualities intact.

Cell line preservation gives us the possibility to prevent and prepare for any illness or sudden loss.

SEMEN
FREEZING

We offer a bank for freezing semen samples from animals with reproductive issues or those you wish to continue in their sporting career (show jumping stallions, dressage, polo).

It is an effective and very quick procedure, carried out through the gradual freezing of the sample, ending with storage in liquid nitrogen to ensure its quality.

Con tan solo una muestra de semen, podemos conseguir un gran número de embriones…

EMBRYO
VITRIFICATION

After completing the fertilisation process in the laboratory (ICSI, the union of egg and sperm), embryos will be cultured and produced. These can be vitrified in nitrogen using the vitrification technique (a type of ultra-rapid freezing) and transferred to a recipient mare at any time.

Advantages of embryo vitrification:

  • Embryos can be frozen and preserved in liquid nitrogen indefinitely.
  • Already frozen embryos can be exported or sold anywhere in the world.
  • If the owner or stud farm wishes, embryos can be thawed at any time.
  • Embryos can be transferred to recipient mares at any time of year.

Embryos can be transported through an advanced system of sample transport, storage, and traceability.
