On October 8th, the Andalucía October Tour 2024 opened its doors in Montenmedio to host competitions that, for an entire month, will attract riders from all over the world.
Ovohorse was the sponsor of the 2nd Qualifier of the Spanish National Show Jumping Championship, featuring more than twenty of the best rider-horse pairs in the country. The winner was the host, Teresa Blázquez Abascal, with the stunning chestnut mare “Nasa de Toxandria.” Together they completed a faultless round in 75.87 seconds, a time unmatched by their rivals. The runner-up was the eventual Spanish Champion, Julio Arias Cueva from Asturias, riding “Filou du Manoir.” Third place went to Cádiz-born Carlos Bosch Cebrián with “Jolie van der Berghoeve.”
Seven pairs finished the Ovohorse Trophy without faults, including the aforementioned riders as well as Javier González Fraga with “Sonic JGF,” a son of “Diamant de Semilly.” “Sonic JGF” shares his sire with “Diarado” and “Emerald,” stallions available at Ovohorse. Santiago Núñez Riva also went clear with “Chakira Z.” The Núñez Riva family is a pioneer in cloning in Spain, already having a clone of “Quarella de Toscane” at their facilities in Asturias. “Cuarela de Capellán” is a beautiful one-year-old filly with all the necessary genetics to become a worthy successor to her mother.
The final was held on Sunday, with the following results:
- GOLD: Julio Arias Cuevas with “Filou du Manoir”
- SILVER: Jesús Garmendia Echevarría with “Callias”, a horse we will talk more about later… Garmendia, who earlier this year won the Invitational at the same venue during the final CSI 4*, repeats last year’s silver medal with his faithful grey.
- BRONZE: Luis Fernández Gil Fournier with the CDE “Ibón”
